Saraswati Scholarship

Saraswati Scholarship

An interesting thing happened on the way to The Improvisation School…

A generous and anonymous donor from  the other side of the planet appeared as a spontaneous benefactor.  The offering is being used to assist students from locations of the planet where financial need is high and opportunities might be low.

Look below for more details…

Say What?

Originally from India, the kind donor was looking for a way to honour the Hindu Goddess of Education, Arts and Nature.

The former student of Shawn Kinley, made the financial gift available without any strings or expectations attached.

The gift naturally evolved into a scholarship that is being made available to passionate students who might not normally have the chance to attend the Improvisation School.

(Thank you.)

Respect for other cultures and people make us richer as artists and as a species.

Sara who?

“Saraswati (Sanskrit: सरस्वती, Sarasvatī) is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom and nature.

She is regarded as the patroness of art, music, and letters and as the inventor of the Sanskrit language. She is usually represented as riding on a goose of pure white that is able to undertake long flights and holding a lute and a manuscript or book.

The Goddess is also revered by believers of the Jain religion of west and central India. She is known in Burmese as Thurathadi or Tipitaka Medaw , in Chinese as Biàncáitiān (辯才天), in Japanese as Benzaiten (弁才天/弁財天) and in Thai as Surasawadee (สุรัสวดี).”
