PARADOXICAL
KASHYAP SRIDHAR – Week 2
Week 2:
The things that have stood out to me from the concepts we learnt and the games we played in the past two weeks are Paradoxical in nature.
- Play the game, but don’t forget the story.
- Learn the rules, but not really focus on the rules.
- Fight for your objective and story, but also support your partner and tell the story together.
- Take control but also give up control.
We have played so many games and worked on several scenes and activities, where the nature of instructions and the expectations are paradoxical and indefinable in nature, just like the “Tao”. The games we play are trying to emphasize a sliver of true nature and the rules to those games are just like scaffolding, they are just an aid to the true principle about nature and the true essence of life.
Note: The game and rules are just a way to point to the nature of truth behind it. We instead focus on the rules of the game, on playing it right instead of focusing on the truth behind it. To me the rules in the game are sometimes a distraction (when I am stressed and nervous) or as a structure where I can be relaxed and be more creative.
