Being onstage

I always thought improv was just Acting 2.0. Theatre without a script. Which I guess is still partly true.  I’ve learned improv is more about ~being~ than anything else. Not performing, or pretending to be a daughter/wife/ astronaut/ house plant. Fully existing onstage, entirely vulnerable and authentic. It has been the biggest challenge to learn (lots of emotional realizations!) but also the most rewarding. Being as real as possible onstage is scary and fun and exciting and draining and energizing… A whole new level of improv that has totally changed the way I think and perceive the world and people around me.
